(b) 2-Day Lab-based Workshop on Building and Programming a Mobile Robot with Raspberry Pi-3

This workshop is targeted to Electrical, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineers with some or little experience in robotics and programming. The hardware is based on the ZL4 mobile robot chassis in combination with the revolutionary Raspberry Pi-3 high-performance microcontroller and digital camera. The workshop is highly interactive with short presentations in an all-day lab setting with lots of time for experimenting.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of this workshop, participant will:

Understand construction and working of mobile robots

  • Understand principles of embedded system
  • Be able to set up and interface the Raspberry Pi
  • Be able to program the Raspberry Pi system
  • Be able to integrate an embedded controller as part of a Mechatronics system.
  • Be able to program the mobile robot to perform desired navigation tasks.

Participants are expected to bring their laptops to the workshop.

Each participant will be given a ZL4 mobile robot kit, motor controller, Raspberry Pi-3, digital camera, a bread-board, LEDs, resistors and wires for experiments, as well as all required software and accompanying notes.
